Chief Brad Mock, Coral Springs Police Department.
From Chief Brad Mock:
As the holiday season approaches, I want to thank you for your continued support of our community. This time of year is about giving, and we are excited to host our annual Holiday Toy Drive once again from November 16 to December 14. This is one of my favorite outreach initiatives. It’s truly heartwarming to see the smiles on these children’s faces as they receive their gifts. Please consider donating new, unwrapped toys to bring joy to children in need throughout Coral Springs. Note that we cannot accept stuffed animals, used toys, or Nerf guns. We also have our Fill the SWAT Truck event on December 12 at Wal-Mart (6001 Coral Ridge Drive) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Last year was our biggest year yet. Let’s see if we can set another record this year!
Holiday season is usually a time when residents travel to see loved ones. To ensure your home stays secure while you’re away, we encourage you to sign up for our Vacation Watch Program. Through this program, a Coral Springs Police Officer will stop by your home periodically to make sure everything is secure, if you’re planning to be gone for more than five days and less than 30. As part of National Teen Driver Safety Week, which is observed from October 18–24, the Coral Springs Police Department urges parents, guardians, and the community to talk with teen drivers about the importance of safe driving. Teens are at a greater risk for crashes due to inexperience and distractions. By encouraging seat belt use, limiting distractions like cell phones, and reinforcing responsible driving habits, we can work together to keep our young drivers, and everyone on the road, safe.
We are also continuing to see a concerning number of crashes involving e-bikes, e-motos and e-scooters in our community. Since January 2026, the Coral Springs Police Department has responded to 88 crashes involving these devices. Of those crashes, 66 resulted in injuries, and in 67 cases, the rider was not wearing a helmet. These numbers are an important reminder that these devices are not toys and must be operated responsibly.
Parents, please talk with your children about the rules of the road and the importance of wearing a helmet every time they ride. As e-bikes, e-motos, and e-scooters continue to grow in popularity, especially among our younger residents, we all have a role in making sure they are being used safely. A helmet, responsible riding, and following traffic laws can make a significant difference in preventing a serious injury. Our goal is not only to educate our community, but to prevent the next crash before it happens. Visit our webpage to learn what is and what isn’t allowed in Coral Springs.
October 28 is National First Responders Day, a time to recognize the courage and dedication of those who serve on the front lines of emergency response. I would like to personally thank the brave men and women of the Coral Springs Police Department for their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving our community. Your hard work and sacrifice don’t go unnoticed, and I’m grateful for all that you do each and every day.
From November 15–21, the Coral Springs Police Department recognizes Fraud Awareness Week, a time to educate and protect our community from scams and financial fraud. Criminals are constantly developing new tactics to target individuals, especially the elderly, through phone calls, emails, text messages and online schemes. We encourage everyone to stay alert, protect personal information, and verify the legitimacy of any unexpected requests for money or sensitive data. By staying informed and cautious, we can work together to prevent fraud and protect our community’s financial security.
I also want to take this opportunity to wish each of you a safe and joyful holiday season. With Thanksgiving and the holidays approaching, many of us will be celebrating with loved ones. Please celebrate responsibly. Never drink and drive! Designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service to ensure everyone gets home safely. Let’s continue to look out for one another and keep our Coral Springs community safe throughout the holidays.
