The City of Coral Springs is all about families, and the Mayor and City Commissioners encourage good citizenship at a very early age by allowing local children to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at their City Commission meetings.
Not only do the children get the great honor of leading the pledge, but they get their very first civics lesson by attending a commission meeting. Did I mention they also get to be on TV, receive a really cool t-shirt, and have their photo taken with Mayor Vincent Boccard?
The City wants to encourage parents to sign up their children to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Students attending elementary, middle, and high schools students, from public and private schools, who either live or attend Coral Springs’ schools, are eligible to participate.
Commission meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6.30 p.m. and the spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If your chid is interested in participating, call Lydia Cutz at 954-344-1063 or email lcutz@coralsprings.org with the student’s name, school name, grade and the month they would like the student to participate.
