
Kennedy Dodd pitches for the Parkridge Christian Academy Softball Team. {Athletics}}
Parkridge Christian Academy is competing at the varsity level for the first time this spring and several teams have already begun the season with strong performances.
Baseball
The baseball team opened the season with an 11-2 victory over Sheridan Hills Christian High School on Tuesday. The Panthers jumped out to a 5-0 lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and three more in the second. Parkridge Christian added at least one run in each of the final three innings to secure the win. Nate Anava led the offense with two doubles, while Marcelo Vigo, Jacob Warren, Christian DePalo and Jade Norwalk all recorded hits. Sam Hombruch added an RBI and scored twice.
Warren also impressed on the mound, earning the win, while Anaya came out of the bullpen and pitched well in relief. Parkridge Christian will next face David Posnack Jewish Day High School on March 24 at 3:30 p.m. The Rams enter the matchup with a 3-4 record after beginning the season 0-3.
Softball
The softball team has played four games this season and picked up its first win in the second contest against Boca Raton Christian High School. The Panthers won 17-1 after allowing a run in the first inning but responding with four runs in the bottom half of the frame. Parkridge Christian added two runs in the second to lead 6-1 before erupting for 11 runs in the third inning to enforce the mercy rule.
Parkridge opened the year with a narrow 5-4 loss to Monarch High School and also dropped games to Glades Day School(6-3) and Miami Christian School (14-0). The Panthers will next face The King’s Academy on Friday, March 6, at 5 p.m. The Lions enter with a 4-1 record, with their only loss coming against Dwyer High School.
Beach Volleyball
The beach volleyball team dropped all of its matches against Somerset Academy to begin the season, but responded with a 3-2 victory over Atlantic High School for the program’s first win. The team includes Taylor Winslow, Giulianna DeFalco, Chance Reed, Molly Alvarez, Jai’da Jones, Magnolia Williamson, Evie Halulko, Aliyah Cooper, Paisley Williamson, Alivia Gomez, Cali Gasbarro and Mia Clapp.
Parkridge will play again against Atlantic Christian High School on Friday, March 6, at 3:30 p.m. The Sharks are currently 0-2 and have recorded only one individual match win this season.
Boys Tennis
The boys’ tennis team earned its first win of the season against Boca Raton Christian High School. The Panthers won five of the seven matches, highlighted by doubles victories from Rafael Carcamo and Daniel Carcamoas, as well as Levi Alvarez and Josiah Alvarez. Rafael, Daniel and Josiah also earned singles wins. Parkridge previously opened the season with a 3-3 draw against Coral Springs High School and recorded three wins against Atlantic Christian High School. The Panthers will face Atlantic Christian again on Wednesday, March 11, at 3:30 p.m.
Flag Football
The flag football team played in its first-ever game on Thursday and defeated Sports Leadership and Management High School 8-0. Jade Norwalk threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Guianna DeFalco, the lone touchdown of the game, as the Panthers will play Horeb Christian High School again on Thursday, March 12, at 4 p.m.
