Black Rock Bar & Grill has been ordered closed for the second time this year after a recent inspection uncovered ten violations, including discovering a dead rodent.
On September 15, health and food safety inspectors from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ordered Black Rock Bar & Grill, located at 2554 North University Drive, to close for the second time since June.Â
The closure came after a recent inspection discovered the accumulation of dead rodents, evidence of rodent activity in droppings, food storage directly on the floor, and improper separation of raw animal products from ready-to-eat food.Â
In June, Coral Springs Talk reported the restaurant was ordered closed by state inspectors during this inspection after 14 violations were identified, including flying insects, inadequate sanitary precautions, and food storage concerns.
During the most recent inspection, an inspector details in the report the discovery of a dead rodent found beneath a storage shelf that rested near food products.Â
The inspector also noted violations related to food storage directly on the floor, such as fries in the freezer. Raw animal food was stored improperly over ready-to-eat food, specifically shrimp over cooked pasta, at a reach-in cooler in the cook line.
Temperature control and food safety were noted as major violations in the report, including the observance of heavy cream in a walk-in cooler at a temperature of 54°F, exceeding the recommended cold holding temperature of 41°F. Expired milk was also found in the same vicinity.Â
Another critical violation involved the absence of date markings on time/temperature control for safety food items, making it impossible to determine their opening or preparation times.
