A Coral Springs Charter School student will soon step onto a stage connected to one of the biggest weeks in the entertainment industry.
Caleb Maldonado, an 11-year-old student at Coral Springs Charter School, has been invited to travel to Los Angeles during Oscar Week to present the Young Artist Academy Awards nomination announcements, an event that recognizes emerging young talent in film and television.
During the ceremony, Maldonado will appear on stage alongside another presenter to announce nominees in the Short Film: Supporting Youth Actor category.
The invitation came after Maldonado was recognized by the Young Artist Academy for his growing involvement and success in youth acting.
According to his family, Maldonado was thrilled to learn he would be participating in the event.
“Like many kids his age who dream about acting and filmmaking, the idea of being part of something connected to Oscar Week felt surreal,” they tell Coral Springs Talk. “He immediately started practicing and preparing because he wants to do a great job on stage.”
Maldonado has developed a strong interest in acting and performing over the past few years. Earlier this year, he participated in the International Presentation of Performers, a global event in which young actors, models, and performers auditioned before talent agents, managers, and casting directors from across the entertainment industry.
During the five-day event, Maldonado received 47 callbacks from directors and industry professionals. Participants also produced a short film during the program, where Maldonado was selected as the lead actor in The Disappearance Room.
His performance throughout the competition earned him multiple awards, including Best Monologue for his age group, TV Marketing Commercial, Headshot, Fashion Print, and High Fashion Runway. He was also named 1st Runner-Up for TV Beauty Commercial.
Maldonado was also awarded the titles of Young Actor of the Year 2026 and Young Model of the Year 2026, honors recognizing his overall performance and potential among the international group of young performers.
Those accomplishments helped open new opportunities for Maldonado and ultimately led to his invitation to participate in the Young Artist Academy’s Oscar Week nomination announcements.
His parents say the opportunity means a great deal to them and their son.
“We’re incredibly proud of him and grateful for the encouragement he has received from his teachers and school,” they said. “It means a lot to see our local community supporting young people as they pursue their passions.”
