Catherine Givens, the first woman to serve as City Manager of Coral Springs, delivered an inspiring inaugural address at the annual Wake Up Chamber Breakfast, emphasizing a shared vision for the city’s future.
Speaking before a packed audience of local business leaders, Givens reflected on her journey from global finance to local government and pledged to build a vibrant, innovative community.
“As someone who grew up in Coral Springs and returned to serve the community I love, I am deeply committed to making this city a place where residents and businesses thrive,” Givens said.
She expressed gratitude to the City Commission, Mayor Scott Brook, and her predecessor, Frank Babinec, for their guidance and support, as well as to city staff, many of whom were present.
In her speech, Givens outlined her vision for Coral Springs, which centers on economic growth, streamlined services, enhanced aesthetics, public safety, and strong educational opportunities. She highlighted plans to foster economic sustainability through strategic partnerships and innovative industries while protecting natural resources.
She also detailed infrastructure projects such as the expansion of the Sawgrass Expressway and a 10-mile Everglades loop designed to connect communities and promote active lifestyles.
Givens emphasized the city’s commitment to improving municipal services through technology, including the use of AI to enhance customer service and simplify permitting processes. Throughout her remarks, Givens emphasized the importance of collaboration between the city and its business community, describing their partnership as vital to Coral Springs’ success.
“Your success is not only vital to our city—it’s personal to me,” she said. “As your city manager, my door is open, and I am ready to work with you to achieve your goals.”
