“Bank Error in Your Favor. Collect $200.” The Community Chest square is one of the best spaces to land during a game of Monopoly because the recipient usually walks away with some necessary funds.

Locally, the Coral Springs Community Chest provides thousands of dollars annually to nonprofit organizations serving and offering programming for the public.

“The Coral Springs Community Chest was founded in 1988 and, with the help of the City of Coral Springs, seeks to assist nonprofits that provide needed services to members of our Coral Springs community,” said Claudette Bruck, a Trustee of the Coral Springs Community Chest.

The Coral Springs Community Chest receives funding from the City of Coral Springs and also through corporate and private donations, special events, and promotions. Ongoing fundraising will continue to provide additional support for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year, nonprofits serving Coral Springs residents may submit a request application to the Coral Springs Community Chest. In September, the trustees review the applications and finalize the list of grant recipients, and the grants are awarded to the selected nonprofit applicants in October.

Organizations funded by the Community Chest include KidSafe Foundation, Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Girl Scouts, and Make a Wish, among others.

The 2020 grant application is currently available on the Coral Springs Community Chest website.  If you’d like to donate to the Community Chest visit here.

“Applications must be received by August 31, 2020, to be considered,” said Bruck. For more information (and to advance to “Go”), please visit the Coral Springs Community Chest website.
