Cookie Head celebrated a grand opening and invited the local community to a free sampling of its latest treat on Saturday.
Formerly Cookiehead Bakery, the shop merged with Blueprint Cookies to launch soft ice cream and the ‘brain freeze’ treat—a pairing of soft ice cream and a cookie.
The first 100 guests received a free soft serve with a mini cookie.
“We are remaking our store, and we wanted to have a celebration,” said Gary Schwartzberg, the founder of Cookie Head. “We are excited about our new brain freeze, which allows customers to choose one of our cookies and place it into chocolate or vanilla soft serve.”
A passion for the bakery business has driven Schwartzberg, who founded Bagel Mania in 1978 and Cookiehead Bakery about 2.5 years ago. He has lived in Coral Springs and Parkland for 46 years.
He is working with executive chef and CEO Michael McGowan to recreate the store. “We have a lot of passion for the bakery business,” said Schwartzberg.

The grand opening brought together community families. They stood in line for the opening and enjoyed soft-serve ice cream and cookies.
Cookie Head is located at 9162 Wiles Road, Coral Springs. Business hours are Sunday – Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
