The District Championship in soccer is officially underway with four local teams all in action.
J.P. Taravella beat Monarch High School in their District Quarterfinal Game on Wednesday 3-2 to set up a matchup with top-seeded Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
The Eagles, though, picked up their 11th season victory to set up a matchup with Coral Glades, who beat Coral Springs High School 1-0 in the other District Semifinal. The Jaguars are now 9-6-2 this year, while the Lady Colts finished the season 10-4-1.
The Coral Springs Charter girls soccer team received a bye in the opening round of the postseason and will play third-seeded Pine Crest on Monday, January 29 at 7 p.m. CSC won 3-0 when these two teams played on December 7.
Boys Soccer
The J.P. Taravella boys soccer team knocked off Coral Springs High School in the District Quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 2-1 win. This was the Trojans’ third win of the season, while the Colts finished the year with a record of 6-7-3.
JPT will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the Semifinals on Friday, January 26, at 4 p.m. The winner of this game will play Monarch High School on Monday, January 29, at 4 p.m. The Knights, who came in one spot lower in the State and National rankings, beat Coral Glades 4-2 to improve to 10-6-4, while the Jaguars finished the season 7-6-6.

The Coral Springs Charter boys soccer team won only one game all season but won their opening playoff game 2-1 against Chaminade Maddona High School on Wednesday. The Panthers entered the postseason as the fourth seed and received goals from Elijah McDonald and Enrique.
The Panthers will play top-seeded NSU University in the semicolons on Friday, January 26, at 5 p.m. The Sharks are 12-2-2 and beat the Panthers 4-0 in their only meeting earlier this year.
