The Coral Glades High School swim team performed well at the recent district championship meet in Wellington and qualified individuals for the upcoming region swim meet at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex / Swimming Hall of Fame on November 6.
Galen Tortorella qualified for the regional meet in the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter breaststroke, and Ethan Persten qualified in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle. Benjamin Denevi qualified in the 100-meter butterfly and the 100-meter backstroke. Tortorella, Persten, Denevi, and Miguel Morierra qualified in the medley relay. Daniel Silva qualified as a diver.
In the girls’ division, Amyra Poitier qualified in the 100-meter butterfly.
Coach Mark Vanvoorhis is proud of the team. “We have some good swimmers, and they have worked hard all season to become successful,” he said.
