The High School football season continued on Thursday with the Mayor’s Cup and one playoff game.
Coral Spring High School beat J.P. Taravella 51-24 on Thursday night to secure its first win of the season. The Colts started the year 0-9 but finished 1-9. They also honored Valinteno Mathieu, Baran Celik, Malachi Wilson, and Ivan Becker.
The Trojans ended the season 1-9 and had their own win against Pompano Beach High School on Sept. 4 That win though was their first one since 2023 and feature seniors Joshua Alfred, Chris McDonald, Eddie James Jr., London Bazile, Landon Booke, Michael Boykin, Jamaal Elliot, Jaden Barclay, Jaiden Ross, Valentina Villalobos, Jayden Juarbe, Kaden Lawrence, Sean Consavage, Myrlinski Jean-Charles, Errol Marsh and Jordan Scherer.
Coral Springs Charter played Space Coast High School in their opening playoff game and lost 20-6. The Panthers managed two field goals in the game and trailed 7-6 at halftime. However, they were shut out in the second half and fell to 5-6 this year. Their wins previously came against Pine Crest, Pembroke Pines Charter, Pompano Beach, J.P. Taravella, and Northeast High School.
Coral Glades did not play but will await to find out who they will be playing in the postseason during the bracket show on Thursday, November 6. The Jaguars went 6-4 this season following wins against Coral Springs High School. Starnhan, Halandale, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Boca Raton, and J.P. Taravella.
