Commission recognizes José “Joe” Morera as winner of 2025 MLK Monument Award {City of Coral Springs}
Coral Springs residents and community leaders are invited to nominate an individual, business, or organization for the annual MLK Monument Award through Friday, April 10.
The award recognizes those who exemplify the values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service, leadership, and a commitment to strengthening the community. Recipients demonstrate dedication to equality, unity, volunteerism, and civic engagement.
“There are many residents quietly making a meaningful difference every day, living out Dr. King’s vision of service, unity, and equality,” said Coral Springs City Commissioner and MLK Committee Liaison Joshua Simmons. “The MLK Monument Award allows us to shine a light on their impact and celebrate those who are helping move our community forward.”
Eligible nominees must live, work, or attend school in Coral Springs. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Applications must include a completed form and a description of the nominee’s contributions to the community.
A selection committee will review submissions. The recipient will be recognized at the City Commission meeting on May 20 and during a private commemorative ceremony at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, held in conjunction with the youth MLK Scholarship Awards.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Monument is located at the entrance of the Northwest Regional Library, 3151 N. University Drive.
More information and application details are available at CoralSprings.gov/MLKMonument.
