A Coral Springs Charter School student was arrested for posting a threat on Snapchat in the middle of the school day Tuesday, court records show.
An FBI staffer said they received a message from Snapchat operations about a threat traced to Rachell Diane Varela Gomez, 18, of Tamarac, according to an arrest affidavit.
Varela Gomez’s Snapchat post was traced to the charter school’s coordinates at 3205 N. University Dr. and posted between noon and 12:15 p.m., the document states.
“I’m dead ass bout to shoot up this dumb ahh school fam not on no troll shit,” Varela Gomez allegedly wrote on the messaging app, according to Coral Springs Police.
Varela Gomez was found in class and escorted to the school’s main office. Police arrested her on a charge of making a written threat to kill, according to the affidavit.
Bond and attorney information in her case were not immediately available Wednesday.
Police said the charter school will complete a threat assessment and submit paperwork for Varela Gomez’s expulsion, the affidavit states.
