From the Coral Springs City Commission:
Seven years after the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, our community will never forget the lives lost and the countless people impacted. On February 14th, we encourage you to do something that impacts and improves the lives of others in memory of the faculty and students who died on that fateful day.
We are excited to share important updates about our city and its progress at our annual State of the City held just before our exciting Community Concert Celebration on Saturday, February 8. State of the City will start at 5:00 p.m. with the concert kicking off at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a lively performance by the Landsharks Band, a tribute to the late, great Jimmy Buffett while savoring food trucks cuisine, brews, and family activities. This free concert will take place on the City Hall Lawn (9500 W. Sample Road).
Let’s Glow Crazy! Wear neon and glow with us as we light up the night with games, dancing, graffiti wall, and more at our first-ever Glow Party on Friday, February 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person if purchased online. More information and tickets and be found at CoralSprings.gov/Glow.
Additional events taking place this month include Open Play Chess on Wednesday, February 5 and Wednesday, February 19, and our popular toddler program, Juice Box Jam, on Thursday, February 20. Information about all city events can be found at CoralSprings.gov/Events.
Walk a day in the shoes of our mayor or commissioners as part of our Mayor for the Day program. Selected students, from 3rd to 12th grade, will have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of our elected officials by accompanying them to meetings, engaging in discussions with city leaders, and getting a behind-the-scenes look at how local government operates. Apply online at CoralSprings.gov/MayorfortheDay.
February is Black History Month. Follow along on the city’s social media accounts as we celebrate the rich and diverse contributions of African Americans throughout history and highlight noteworthy achievements of those making a difference in our community.
This month’s Commission Meetings will take place on Wednesday, February 5 at 9 a.m. and Wednesday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. As always, the public is invited to attend Commission meetings.
