J.P. Taravella continued their historic season with several wins during the track and field District Championship at South Plantation High School on April 16
JPT shone in track and field, with the boys coming in second place. Akeil Kidd took first in the 110 hurdles, while Scardy Fils won the 1600 meters. They also had a relay team consisting of Fils, JahRee Pierre, Elijah Vessells, and Akeem Beckford, who won first place in the 4×800 relay. Fils added a second-place finish in the 800 meters, followed by Vessela and Pierre.
JPT also had Vessells place fourth in the long jump, right ahead of Beckford and Dennis. Neckforn and Dominic Martinez earned points on the track. Joshua Renaeu and Benjamin Joseph placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 400 hurdles. For the other relay teams, Brandon Jameison, Pierre, Travis Dillon, and Joshua Reneau finished fifth in the 4×100 relay, while Jameison, JahRee Pierre, Dillon, and Reneau finished seventh in the 4×400 relay.
Brandon Joseph competed in the high jump and triple jump. Tyquez Jenkins came third in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, while Joryton Delien earned points in the three events along with Miles Green.
The girls team was led by Olivia Noel, Raquel Arne, Caileen Canales, and Samira Belizaire to win the 4 x 100 relay, along with U’Myri Bain taking first in the high jump. Olivia Noel, Raquel Arne, Timya Johnson, and Samira Belizaire placed third in the 4 x 100 relay, with Timya Johnson, Jada Thelwell, Melany Alvarez, and Rayelle Languedoc coming in fourth in the 4 x 100 relay.
Noel and Rayelle Languedoc placed fourth while JPT impressed in the long jump. Jada Thelwell finished fifth, followed by Arne and Noel. Thelwell Arne, Caileen Canales, Rashanaye Elliott, and Rayelle Languedoc all placed in the top eight. Next, JPT will get set for Regionals and potentially the State Championship next month.
