
J.P. Taravella Track and Field competes in BCAA Championship. {David Volz}
On Friday, J.P. Taravella’s boys’ and girls’ teams placed seventh overall in the BCAA Championship at Coral Springs High School.
Their best result came from Scardy Fils, Elijah Vessells, JahRee Pierre, and Akeam Beckford, who placed second in the 4 x 800 relay. Brandon Jameison, Scardy Fils, Ja’Michael BAR, and JahRee Pierre came in ninth in the 4 x 400 relay, with Joshua Jones, Ja’Michael BAR, Akeil Kidd, and Edwens Belizaire finishing 10th in the 4 x 100 relay.
Individually, Fils placed sixth and seventh in two meets on the track, while Vessels came in eighth in two events, and Joshua Reneau placed seventh in the 400 hurdles. Vessels came in eighth in two races, along with Kidd, Roshawn Johnson, and T’quez Jenkins. Benjamin Joseph came in the top ten in two events, with Pierre, Dennis, Ali Mustfa, Dominic Martinez, and Kidd all qualifying in other events.
The girls’ 4 x 800 relay team, consisting of Olivia Noel, Raquel Arne, Samira Belizaire, and Caileen Canales, came in second. Timya Johnson, Jada Thelwell, Melany Alvarez, Patricia Costa
The 4 x 100 relay team of Olivia Noel, Jada Thelwell, Patricia Costa, and Raquel Arne came in fourth longish the 4 x 400 relay team of Olivia Noel, Jada Thelwell, Patricia Costa, and Raquel Arne. Rayelle Languedoc led the way, placing seventh in the discus, slightly ahead of Rashanaye Elliott. Noel came in seventh in the 800 meters, with Arne and Bain each placing twice in the top 10, while Samira Belizaire came in 12th in two events.
The boys’ and girls’ teams will continue to prepare for the postseason, which will include the District, Regional, and State Championships
