From the Coral Springs City Commission:
As we welcome spring, April in Coral Springs is packed with events that celebrate community, environment, and opportunities for all.
Teen Political Forum (TPF) returns on Thursday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (2855 Coral Springs Drive.) This interactive event gives teens the opportunity to engage directly with local, county, and state officials. Details can be found at CoralSprings.gov/TPF.
April is Autism Awareness Month, a time to recognize and support individuals with autism and their families. The city will host a Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Mullins Park (10150 NW 29th Street). This sensory-friendly event allows individuals with special needs to explore emergency response vehicles in a calm and supportive environment. Additionally, caregivers can register loved ones in the city’s special needs database, ensuring first responders have important information to assist individuals during emergencies.
All ‘yolks’ aside, Hoppin’ Into Springs will bounce back to Sportsplex Park (2800 Sportsplex Dr) on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. In addition to our traditional egg hunt, this year’s event will feature a dedicated time slot for 3- to 8-year-olds with special needs to participate from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
A Sensory Walk will be held on Sunday, April 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Cypress Hammock Park (1300 Coral Springs Drive.)
Sustainability is a year-round priority in Coral Springs, and Earth Month highlights our commitment to a greener future. Earthfest will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sawgrass Nature Center (3000 Sportsplex Drive). The event will feature free nature exhibits, plant giveaways for residents, and family-friendly activities that promote sustainability. More details can be found at CoralSprings.gov/Earthfest.
The Coral Springs Museum of Art will welcome a new exhibit, Ancestral Lines, on view from Thursday, April 4 to Saturday, July 5. The exhibit will feature a multitude of textiles from more than 70 fabric artists whose works will represent a wide range of heritages and ancestries.
Checkmate! Mayor’s Chess Challenge is on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mullins Hall (10150 NW 29th Street.) All ages are invited to join elected officials and community leaders for a game of chess.
