Coral Springs has been awarded LEED Gold Certification under the LEED for Cities and Communities rating system, recognizing its efforts to improve sustainability and quality of life for residents.
The city earned 61 out of a possible 110 points by advancing initiatives in quality of life, water efficiency, transportation and land use, materials and resources, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, natural systems, and innovation.
With this achievement, Coral Springs joins more than 200 cities and communities worldwide that have reached LEED certification status.
“This certification is a proud milestone in our city’s ongoing sustainability journey,” said Dr. Andrea Lemaitre, Coral Springs Sustainability Manager. “LEED Gold validates the work we’ve done to improve quality of life for all residents, support smart growth, and reduce our environmental impact. It also serves as a strong foundation for future data-driven initiatives that will guide city planning, performance, and innovation.”
This recognition follows Coral Springs’ participation in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Cities Local Government Leadership Program in 2024, which provided technical assistance and peer learning opportunities to accelerate sustainability projects. The city was formally recognized during the October 15, 2025, City Commission meeting.
