
Coral Glades Football Wins Swamp Bowl. {Coral Glades Athletics}
The penultimate week of the regular season featured three rivalry games, with Coral Glades recording the lone win.
The Jaguars beat J.P. Taravella on Thursday, 31-0, in the Swamp Bowl. The Jaguars have not lost to the Trojans since 2019 and improved to 6-3 this season following touchdown passes from Tyler Coury and Channing Casey.
Romeo Williams had 154 rushing yards, while Ethan Claire also scored, and Michael Hali III also found the end zone. Mason Salom had two sacks while Nelson Hund had one. Jayden Snow and Jaidyn Dantinor each had interceptions, with Jordan Roberts and Julian Madero having fumble recoveries.
Next, Coral Glades will play Nova High School on Friday, October 24, at 7 p.m. The Titans are 3-5 this year with wins against Pembroke Pines Charter, Cooper City, and Coral Springs High School. A year ago, Nova High School recorded a 20-0 win over the Jaguars. J.P. Taravella is now 1-7 and will play Goleman High School on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m. The Gators are 4-4 this year and won 63-0 a season ago.
Coral Springs High School played Marjory Stoneman Douglas and fell to 0-8 this season. They managed to score two touchdowns and will play Fort Lauderdale High School on Friday, October 24, at 7 p.m. The Flying L’s are 1-7 this year and had their only win come against Boyd H. Anderson High School. A year ago, though, Fort Lauderdale won 40-20 in the lone matchup between these teams.
Coral Springs Charter lost to North Broward Prep 17-14. It was senior night as Vincent Campbell, Carter Hayden, Anthony Love, Will Price, Stephen Gibbs, Noah Yarbrough, Chase Powell, Justin Barkin, Jacob Golden, and Michael Streder.
Former CSC quarterback Ralph Diaz made the start for the Eagles. The Panthers are now 5-4 and will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m. The Eagles are 3-5 this year with wins against Cooper City, Spanish River, and Coral Springs High School, but lost 26-6 a year ago to the Panthers.
