Wayne Ruddock {BSO}
A months-long investigation by the Coral Springs Police Department into allegations of an ongoing sexual relationship between a man and a minor has resulted in the arrest of a Coral Springs resident.
On February 12, Wayne Hugh Ruddock, 46, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including traveling to meet a minor and lewd behavior toward a minor following a prolonged CSPD investigation.
According to arrest records, the investigation began after allegations were first brought forward by the victim’s father, who reported the situation after discovering explicit text messages between his son and Ruddock.
According to the father’s statement, he reviewed a series of messages on his son’s cellphone detailing discussions about meeting up and engaging in sexual activities. The messages also referenced past encounters.
Concerned about the graphic sexual nature of the conversations, the father provided law enforcement with surveillance footage from his residence that allegedly shows a man, believed to be Ruddock, arriving at the home while his son was alone.
Investigators reviewed the evidence, including surveillance video clips depicting a middle-aged male, later identified as Ruddock, walking across the residence’s driveway.
Records show a full review of the text messages revealed a conversation between the minor and a phone number later determined to be associated with Ruddock. The messages contained references to past meetings as well as plans to meet at hotels and engage in drug or alcohol use.
Following the conclusion of their investigation, a warrant was issued for Ruddock’s arrest, and on February 12, he was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
