The City of Coral Springs encourages residents interested in a women’s self-defense program focused on empowerment and violence prevention to request a private group session.
The Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange (S.A.F.E.) class will be held on Thursday, May 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sartory Hall Senior Center. Due to high demand, this class is full, but additional sessions are available upon request for organized groups.
The free two-hour educational program is aimed at teenagers and adult women ages 13 and up.
Attendees will learn course materials that combine crime-victim prevention education with hands-on self-defense strategies. The course will provide vital education and self-defense tools to help women feel confident about protecting themselves in threatening situations.
Trained instructors lead the S.A.F.E. program, which focuses on four key principles: Strategies, Techniques, Options, and Prevention. While the course is not designed to make participants experts in self-defense, it is an essential starting point for awareness and preparedness.
To schedule a group lesson, contact Ashley Amalfitano at 954-346-1746 or email policetraining@coralsprings.gov.
