Emanuel Leon Brown {BSO}
A man was arrested after Coral Springs Police said he attacked a woman with a box of baby diapers during a gathering that followed a baby shower.
According to an arrest report, officers responded shortly before 1:00 a.m. to a home near the 3600 block of Coral Springs Drive, where they found a woman with bleeding scrapes on her knees and elbows and swelling on her lip.
The victim reportedly told officers she had met the suspect, Emanuel Leon Brown, 42, of Sunrise, earlier that day at a baby shower and that the party later continued at the residence where the altercation occurred.
The victim told police Brown arrived at the home “irate” after having difficulty locating the address. She said he began throwing items around the garage and hit her with a box of diapers. She initially believed the impact was accidental until she asked Brown what was wrong, prompting him to charge at her, knock her to the ground, and punch her repeatedly while she protected her face and body.
A witness told officers she saw him arrive angry, throw items, and then stand over the victim on the ground while hitting her.
Before officers reached the home, dispatchers informed them that the assailant was attempting to drive away. Police spotted a vehicle matching the description at the community gate and detained Brown as he tried to leave.
Records show Brown admitted to throwing the diaper box but denied everything else. He was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released after posting a $2,000 bond.
