Mayor Scott Brook
The City of Coral Springs announced that Mayor Scott Brook has been appointed vice chair of the National League of Cities Council on Youth, Education, and Families, placing the city in a national leadership role focused on expanding opportunities for children and families.
The appointment was announced by National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, a Louisville, Kentucky, councilmember. Brook was elected to a one-year term and will serve alongside Council Chair Mayor Sonja Brown of Glenn Heights, Texas.
According to a city press release, Brook will help guide programs and initiatives to foster collaboration and innovation among local elected officials, addressing similar community challenges nationwide.
The Council on Youth, Education, and Families works to strengthen policies and programs supporting children, youth, and families while assisting local leaders in promoting education, well-being, and community success.
“It’s an honor to serve in this leadership role and represent Coral Springs at the national level,” Brook said. “The work of this council directly reflects the values of our community, investing in young people, supporting families, and ensuring cities have the tools they need to create positive outcomes. I look forward to collaborating with leaders from across the country to share ideas that can make a real difference.”
As vice-chair, Brook will work with a diverse group of municipal leaders to encourage networking and resource-sharing among cities with similar demographics, size or regional challenges. Many of the programs and solutions developed through the council can be replicated in communities nationwide.
