A man fleeing an alleged domestic violence attack was found bleeding so severely during a Coral Springs traffic stop that a police officer had to apply an emergency tourniquet before he was rushed to the hospital.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, the victim left a home in the 10800 block of Royal Palm Boulevard following an early morning altercation on June 26. Shortly after leaving, he was stopped by Officer Joseph Grilo, who discovered he was suffering from a deep laceration to his arm and multiple bite wounds.
As the extent of his injuries became apparent, Grilo applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding until Coral Springs Fire Rescue arrived and transported the man to Broward Health Coral Springs for treatment.
Records show the victim was able to inform officers of what happened, and law enforcement later arrested Jazmin Nicole Miranda, 38, of Fort Lauderdale, accusing her of attacking the victim with a shattered alcohol bottle and biting him multiple times during the domestic dispute.
Police allege that during an altercation, Miranda allegedly struck the victim with a broken alcohol bottle and bit him repeatedly, leaving him with a deep laceration to his left tricep, bite marks on both arms, and several cuts near his waist.
During questioning, Miranda told officers she had fallen off a motorbike earlier that morning, damaging the bike and leading to an argument after the couple returned home. She said the confrontation escalated into pushing and shoving before both fell to the floor.
Miranda allegedly admitted she was holding an alcohol bottle during the struggle and used it to strike the victim, causing a deep wound to his arm. Police noted they observed no physical injuries on Miranda during their investigation.
After receiving medical clearance, Miranda was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $6,000 bond.
