
Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department
For the first time in its history, the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department has been awarded the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant, securing $2,483,447 in federal funding to bolster emergency response and improve public safety across the community.
Administered by FEMA, the SAFER Grant is intended to help fire departments increase or maintain the number of trained frontline firefighters. The three-year grant will allow the city to hire 12 new firefighters, enhancing staffing levels and ensuring faster emergency response.
“Securing the SAFER Grant not only enhances public safety, but also reduces the financial burden on our residents,” said City Manager Catherine Givens. “This multi-million-dollar award is the result of years of dedicated effort by city staff, and it reflects our commitment to smart, strategic investment in the future of Coral Springs.”
In addition to the federal funds, the city will contribute $1,543,765 in matching funds over the grant period, underscoring its continued focus on public safety and operational readiness.
The award is part of a broader effort to secure outside funding to support community services. Coral Springs obtained nearly $7 million in grant funding for FY2025, a milestone city officials say demonstrates a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, innovation and reducing reliance on taxpayer dollars.
