The Coral Springs Senior Open will be hosting their second event at the Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace from April 1st through April 5th 2012.
Last years event raised several thousand dollars for charity and this years event is now looking like it will double last years efforts easily. The WIP Foundation, which stands for World Institute of Pain Foundation, is a nonprofit organization that is recognized as a 501(c) under the IRS. Providing medical needs to people in third world countries is one of the primary focuses and Dr. Ira Fox of Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants in Tamarac, FL has stepped up and made a commitment to the tournament and the charity by taking the Title Sponsor role for the event. Fox currently serves as a member of the WIP Advisory Board.
The Cancun Sunbelt Senior Tour has been running for 17 years and is the largest Senior Professional Golf Tour in the country under the Champions Tour. Many of the tours members are current Champions Tour Members that use the Cancun Sunbelt Senior Tour as a training ground to stay sharp until they can earn fully exempt status on the Champions Tour. There are also a large number of other professionals that have spent many years on the PGA Tours, European Tour or Nationwide Tours and are aspiring to earn full exempt status on the Champions Tour.
Some of the early players to commit to the Coral Springs Senior Open are:
Blaine McAllister and Danny Edwards, both of whom have won 5 times on the PGA Tour.
Fulton Allem with 3 PGA Tour wins and 14 International victories
From the European contingent, Barry Lane, a former Ryder Cup member and long time European Tour Player, has committed to the event. With no tournaments in Europe until May, Barry came over and won the Jacksonville Senior Open in March and is looking forward to this event as a tune up to the Champions Tour qualifying that will be hosted at TPC Eagle Trace this coming November.
