An 8-year-old Coral Springs girl with aggressive cancer got the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday when a Broward Health pharmacy technician gifted her a pair of Taylor Swift concert tickets.
Emoree Smith, a pediatric oncology patient undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments at Broward Health Medical Center, received the tickets for an October Eras Tour show at Hard Rock Stadium during a surprise party at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Meena Daljitsingh, a pharmacy technician at Broward Health Medical Center, and her daughter, Crystal Daljitsingh, gave Emoree the tickets.
Emoree, a huge Swiftie, was diagnosed with stage four alveolar metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) at the end of July, according to Broward Health. A spokesperson said that ARMS impacts a type of sarcoma comprised of cells that typically develop into skeletal muscles.
Hospital staffers lined a hospital hallway Tuesday to cheer on Emoree as she received the concert tickets and Taylor Swift-themed gifts amid a party featuring Swift’s music, balloons, and Swiftie necklaces and glasses.
Crystal Daljitsingh, who paid $500 for the tickets, said giving them to Emoree was an “amazing” experience that overwhelmed the little girl with joy and Emoree’s mother, Rashonda Coney, tearing up.
“I’m pretty sure Emoree’s going to take an hour to decompress a little bit,” Crystal Daljitsingh said. “And when she realizes she’s actually going to a Taylor Swift concert, it’s going to be really impactful for her.”

Crystal Daljitsingh’s mother, pharmacy tech Meena Daljitsingh, said she was “more than happy” to arrange for Emoree and her mother to receive the tickets.
“If you can brighten someone’s day, then why not?” she said.
