To mark Mental Health Awareness Month, the City of Coral Springs will host a Mental Health Town Hall on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Commission Chambers.
Led by Mayor Scott Brook, a longtime mental health advocate, the event will feature a panel of mental health professionals discussing topics such as depression, anxiety, the impact of digital technology on adolescents, suicide prevention, and substance abuse.
“Mental health affects us all, and we must continue to create safe spaces where honest and open conversations can take place,” Brook said. “I am proud to share my own journey, and even prouder to work alongside these incredible experts to provide our residents with the tools, support, and access they need to prioritize their mental well-being.”
Panelists include Johana Cubas, LCSW, from Henderson Behavioral Health; Mareo H. Hood, LCSW, with Broward County Public Schools; and Sean Khan, M.S., LMHC, a clinician for Coral Springs employees and private psychotherapist with more than 25 years of experience.
The city’s Behavioral Health Access Program (BHAP) will also have clinicians, chaplains, and peer support staff on hand to provide additional resources. The event is free and open to the public.
