Too many dogs and cats are lost in our City and and too many times they may never be reunited because they are not wearing the one thing they are required by law to wear – their rabies tag.
In Broward County, dogs and cats must wear an official Broward County Rabies Registration Tag at all times so that they have proof of their vaccination and can be identified in case they get lost from home.
Pet owners that fail to register and vaccinate their pets can face a penalty of $300 per offense according to Animal Care. Also, “indoor” pets are not exempt from their rabies vaccination, as they still can still slip out of an open door, window, or escape through a loose screen or fence.
Pets that have a tattoo, microchip or personalized name tag, are still required to have a Broward County Rabies Registration Tag as well.
