Fat Boyz BBQ returns to Coral Springs {Courtes John McCall, South Florida Sun Sentinel}
By Sharon Aron Baron
Fat Boyz Barbecue, the Southern restaurant chain known for its authentic flavors, has announced they are returning to Coral Springs.
This isn’t Fat Boyz’s first foray into the city. In 2018, they opened a location at 6192 W Sample Rd, which closed in 2021.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, owner Jarael Holston-Jones blames the closure on the stress of maintaining two locations and a food truck, coupled with a now-common pandemic problem: fewer staff.
“I’m spreading myself too thin, and it’s been hard keeping up quality control between the two locations,” he says. “We just couldn’t overcome it.”
With its roots in Fort Lauderdale, Fat Boyz Barbecue has garnered a strong following for its slow-smoked meats.
According to a news release from the restaurant, the new Coral Springs location will be at 10334 West Sample Road, at the now-closed Juana La Cubana Coffee.
An April 20, 2024 opening date is anticipated, according to a spokesperson.
