One of the all-time best basketball players at Coral Glades has officially announced his commitment to play in college at Kennesaw State University.
Theophile was a relatively unknown underclassman, but has blossomed into one of the top players in Florida. After receiving 14 Division I offers, he narrowed his decision to four schools: Kennesaw State, FIU, Georgia Southern, and UTSA.
“It feels great to commit knowing that I have a lot of people who support my decision, and it also feels like a lot of weight off my shoulder,” Theophile said.
Theophile first touched a basketball when he was three and played on a travel team with Badboys before playing with Controller Kaos. He also played for Young Bulls and Team Wright, and finished his AAU career with Team Knight.
For High School, Theopile began at Dillard and then transitioned to Elite Academy for his sophomore season before joining Coach Stefan Whttingham at Coral Glades as a junior, where Theophile averaged 11.7 points per game. He also averaged 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game, helping the Jaguars win their second straight District Title and reach Regionals.
For college, Theophile called Kennesaw State home, felt the coaches were honest with him, and knew it was the spot where he could reach his potential. Still with one year left before college, he is eager to improve his game.
“Some areas I’d want to improve are getting a lot stronger and being able to play the game fast and still make good decisions,” Theophile added.
Kennesaw State is currently in Conference USA and is led by Coach Antoine Pettway. The Owls won a Division II championship in 2004 and then went to Division I in 2006. They spent 19 years in the ASUN Conference and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 2023 after winning the Conference Tournament.
