Coral Glades Athletic Director Kristen Garcia has officially taken on a new role as Athletics and Student Activities Community Liaison for the Broward County Athletic Association.
Garcia has worked at Coral Glades since 2006 and was the recipient of Athletic Director of the Year alongside Al Guzzo of Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 2021.
“Coral Glades is a great school,” said Garcia. “I’ve enjoyed working there for the past 17 years, but I’m looking forward to the growth opportunity of this new position.”
Garcia has overseen over a dozen of varsity sports teams. Recently, Coral Glades made its first appearance in the State Playoffs in football. They have also become one of the top teams in Broward County in baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, lacrosse, volleyball, golf, wrestling, water polo, cross country, swimming and diving, and track and field.
Principal Mark Kaplan says Garcia has been an important part of Coral Glades for many years.
“Her role as Athletic Director has been significant. Ms Garcia, was one of the only female ADs in Broward County for years,” said Kaplan. “She is a trailblazer. We will miss her however we know she will continue to do great things for all students in Broward County. As we transition to a new era for Coral Glades Sports, Ms Garcia will continue to assist us in this transition.”
