The Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for its inaugural Heroes Among Us celebration, an event honoring individuals who serve, protect, and inspire the local community.
The program will recognize outstanding individuals across Coral Springs and Coconut Creek for their service in first response, military and veterans service, public safety, public works, and life-saving actions. The celebration is intended to spotlight everyday heroes whose actions have made a meaningful and lasting impact.
Frank Babinec, former city manager, will be the moderator and keynote speaker.
“As we prepare for the Chamber’s inaugural Heroes Among Us celebration, we are excited to begin collecting nominations for this special event honoring the individuals who serve, protect, and inspire our community,” said Johnny Brief, director of marketing and communications for the Chamber.
Nominees may include individuals who took swift and decisive action in a critical situation, directly contributed to saving a human life, or acted with exceptional skill, professionalism, and compassion. The Chamber also seeks to recognize those whose actions created life-changing outcomes for an individual and their loved ones.
Because this is the first year of the program, the Chamber is encouraging broad community participation and is asking organizations, teams, businesses, and residents to help identify deserving heroes.
Nominations are open to outstanding individuals serving in first response, military and veterans roles, public safety, and public works. Community members are invited to submit nominations online to help shine a light on those making a difference every day.
The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026. Nominations can be submitted online at Heroes Among Us.
Additional details about the Heroes Among Us celebration, including the event date and honorees, will be announced at a later time.
