A fundraiser will be held for the Duck Haven of Margate which has been rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abandoned Muscovies for 35 years.
On Tuesday, May 17, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm., Painting With a Twist of Coral Springs will be hosting a charity event and will give half of the proceeds to the nonprofit.
The idea started after painting instructor Scott Pallack brought a wounded female Muscovy Duck to Duck Haven. Eunice, the owner, took her in and then showed him and his wife her duck saving mission.
“It was very touching how she sacrifices her time for these injured birds. We wanted to help her raise some money and felt we had the perfect venue to do so,” said Pallack.
Duck Haven receives no funding from local humane organizations and no help from wildlife agencies who do not include Muscovy ducks as native wildlife warranting protection.
To sign up for the event, where they can turn a painting into their own masterpiece, go to paintingwithatwist.com/coralsprings or call 954-773-7928.
The studio is located at 720 Riverside Dr. Coral Springs, FL 33071 behind the Coral Square Mall- Frank’s Theater.
