A group of talented young dancers from Drake Irish Dance are making waves on the international stage while bringing the joy of Irish dance to their local community.
Competing at the prestigious World Irish Dancing Championships in April, these performers are set to showcase their years of rigorous training and passion for the art form.
Instructor Chrissy Deacy is leading them. With a commitment to Irish dance, Deacy has played a huge role in developing her students’ skills and confidence, fostering a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the studio.
Among the dancers competing at Worlds, Fiona Shanley, Alyssa Kerrick, and Ella Clingenpeel bring their experience and cool confidence to the stage, having participated in multiple international competitions. Shanley recently secured 16th place at the All Irelands competition in February, a remarkable achievement.
Carolina Rivera, Violet O’Donnell, and Eliani Carr-Betts, returning for their second appearance at Worlds, are eager to build on their past performances and showcase their growth as dancers.
For Kelly Anderson and Kaitlin Thomas, this year marks their first journey to the World Championships. As they take their first steps onto the international stage, they carry with them the dedication and excitement that defines the Drake Irish Dance community.
“We are incredibly proud of all our dancers and are excited for those competing at the World Championships,” Deacy said. “Whether taking their first class and learning new steps or preparing for an international competition, our dancers demonstrate incredible dedication and joy.”
According to Dearcy, Drake Irish Dance plays an active role in the Coral Springs and Parkland communities, where their dancers frequently perform at local schools’ multicultural events, private parties, and senior living communities. March is particularly busy, with appearances at parades and both public and private events across South Florida.
Community members can catch these talented dancers in action at the Coral Springs Blarney Bash and the Festival of the Arts, where they will showcase their skills and celebrate Irish culture.
