A 29-year-old man was arrested at The Walk of Coral Springs Sunday night after allegedly pointing an AR-15 into rush-hour traffic on University Drive and pulling the trigger, court records show. The gun was not loaded, and no one was injured, according to police.
Kieran Ravi Singh drank alcohol at Ocean One Bar and Grille, 2444 N. University Dr., before he allegedly walked out to the shopping center’s parking lot, retrieved the 16-inch rifle from his friend’s white GMC pickup truck, and recklessly pointed the gun into heavy traffic as well as toward the sky, witnesses told police.
Singh, who lives in Hollywood, is a convicted felon on probation and legally barred from possessing a gun, according to a Coral Springs Police arrest affidavit. He was charged with multiple crimes Sunday, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, improper exhibition of a firearm, openly carrying a firearm, and disorderly intoxication. He was ordered held without bond due to his allegedly violating his probation, records show.
Singh had been with two friends inside the restaurant, including a man who identified himself as the rifle and pickup truck owner, records show. The man told police he gave Singh his truck keys and asked him to go start the truck while he used the bathroom. Singh then retrieved the gun and committed the alleged crimes, police said, before the man came out and took the weapon from Singh.
When police arrived after the incident, they found a shirtless Singh and his friends standing next to the truck, which was parked in a spot next to University Drive, records show. All three people were taken into custody, police said. The two friends, including a woman, were not charged.
An officer spotted the AR-15 stashed under the truck’s rear seat, police said. The gun was unloaded with its safety switched off, records show. A nearby backpack held a large quantity of ammunition, including three 30-round magazines, the affidavit states.
Singh has previous convictions in 2023 for the crimes of attempted burglary, robbery by sudden snatching, and aggravated stalking, according to the affidavit. He is subject to an active injunction in a domestic violence case, which bars him from having guns or ammunition, police said.
No attorney information for Singh was listed in court records.
Ocean One Bar and Grille was closed Monday, and its phone number is not in service.
