The Ramblewood Middle School Girls’ basketball team defeated Millennium Middle School 31 to 20 in the semi-final game on Monday at Pompano Beach High School.
The Raiders are 13-0 and will move on to the Middle School Athletic Association Broward County Championship game at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, December 14 at 5:00 p.m.
The game was closer than the previous meetings of the two teams and sloppy at times. “We made a lot of mistakes in the first half of the game, and then we regrouped and played a little better in the second half,” said Russell Anderson, Ramblewood’s athletic director. “Millennium made a lot of adjustments from our first meeting, and that made the game closer.”
Summer Williams played well and made some key plays. Samantha Hill made a key three-point shot. Toward the end of the game, the Ramblewood defense played and forced some turnovers, according to Anderson.
Ramblewood will play the winner of Seminole Middle School and Driftwood Middle School.
“It was an emotional and exciting game for Coach Xandria Willingham because this is the first time she has achieved a playoff berth with Ramblewood and qualified for the championship game,” said Anderson.
Russell believes at least eight of the Ramblewood players could play high school-level basketball.
Stranahan High School is located at 1800 Southwest Fifth Place, Fort Lauderdale.
