The J.P. Taravella High School track and field athletes have been busy this summer.
A group of talented Trojans competed at the AAU Club National Championships at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Patricia Costa earned second place in the 100-meter hurdles, and Samira Belizaire earned third place in the triple jump.
Olivia Noel took sixth place in the long jump. Rayelle Languedoc earned third place in the shot put and third place in the discus.
On the boys’ team, JahRee Pierre earned second place in the 800-meter run and third place in the 1500-meter run.
Jamal Elliott took fifth in the 200 meters. Scardy Fils took seventh in the 1500-meter run, according to Taravella coach Dawn Spann.
“This was a big meet for our team, and we did well,” Spann said, adding that they will start cross-country practice in late July, and their season will open in August.
