A man with a history of sexually assaulting a victim was arrested after she awoke to him inside her apartment.
On November 30, the Coral Springs Police arrested John Fyke, 58, of Pompano Beach, for aggravated stalking and violating probation, marking his third arrest involving similar offenses with the victim.
According to arrest records, Fyke – who has a history of arrests related to tormenting the victim, including an arrest in July 2022 on charges of sexual battery and a February 2022 arrest for stalking – violated a non-expiring injunction order issued in 2022 that prohibited him from contacting the woman.
Fyke’s actions are especially concerning considering the details of his July 2022 arrest in which he allegedly raped the victim, which led to a court order to have no contact with her.
Despite the court order, records show that Fyke gained unauthorized access to the victim’s apartment — located near the 6700 block of West Sample Road — at approximately 5:30 a.m. on November 30 using a copy of a key she had previously given him. Once inside, Fyke reportedly looked at the victim and said, “I will kill you,” before following up with, “I am joking.”
The victim reported being in fear for her life as Fyke proceeded to make himself at home by preparing coffee in her kitchen.
Later that morning, the victim’s neighbor, a witness in the case, entered the apartment to retrieve personal belongings. She found Fyke seated on the couch while the victim spoke with her daughter on the phone.
The victim’s daughter immediately called 911, and Coral Springs Police arrived to arrest Fyke.
Fyke was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he remains without bond.
