A Coral Springs man is facing a felony charge after police say he pulled a gun on another driver during a confrontation in a McDonald’s drive-thru.
According to Coral Springs Police Department records, Francisco Cavalcante, 55, was arrested on February 6 following an incident at the McDonald’s located at 7751 West Sample Road. Police said they received multiple 911 calls reporting that a man in a red SUV had pulled out a handgun and threatened another vehicle while waiting in the drive-thru line.
When officers arrived, records show they detained Cavalcante and recovered a black handgun from his hip, along with a loaded magazine in his pocket.
Investigators said the victim told officers she was attempting to order food when Cavalcante cut her off and refused to let her enter the drive-thru line. After the two exchanged words, Cavalcante allegedly got out of his vehicle, stood in front of the victim’s car, pulled out a handgun, and pointed it at her through the windshield.
The arrest report shows that upon interview, Cavalcante told police the victim was trying to cut him off and said he displayed the gun during the confrontation, but claimed he did not intentionally point it at her.
Cavalcante was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
