Jadavien Trequan Brown {BSO}
A man was arrested after police say he battered a pregnant woman during an argument that began at their home and escalated when he grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to kill them both, before the dispute ended with a 911 call from the restaurant.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Jadavien Trequan Brown, 25, of Margate, was taken into custody on February 11 at Benihana, located at 1695 North University Drive. Records show officers responded after the victim called police and reported she had been battered and needed help. She told dispatchers she was at the restaurant before disconnecting the call.
When officers arrived, they located the couple arguing at a table and separated them. Police said Brown told officers the couple had been arguing for several days and that he had insisted they go to the restaurant to discuss their problems.
While driving to the restaurant, Brown allegedly took the victim’s cellphone and hit her in the face.
In addition to the battery, the victim also alleged that Brown grabbed the steering wheel from the passenger seat and aggressively pulled it, nearly causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The victim told investigators Brown had done so while making threats that he would kill them both.
An additional witness at the restaurant told police she overheard Brown tell the victim not to discuss his hitting her, stating that he does it “out of love” and that it was a personal matter, according to the report.
The victim informed officers she is approximately one and a half months pregnant, and Brown was aware.
Brown was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
