Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax {BSO}
R&B singer Jacquees – real name, Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax – a Coral Springs resident, was arrested after police said firefighters had to break a window of his Jeep Gladiator to reach him while he was asleep behind the wheel.
According to Hollywood Police Department arrest records, a police officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North 62nd Avenue at 7:57 a.m. Sunday, September 27, after receiving a report of a man – later identified as Broadnax, 32- passed out inside a pickup truck.
Police said the officer repeatedly tapped on the driver’s-side window with a baton, but the man did not respond.
Firefighters then shook the Jeep to wake him, authorities said. When he still did not respond, firefighters broke the front window, unlocked the vehicle, and turned off the engine.
According to the report, Hollywood Fire Rescue personnel rubbed the man’s chest to wake him before placing him on a stretcher and moving him into a rescue vehicle.
The officer reported smelling alcohol.
Police said the man later stood up inside the rescue vehicle and attempted to walk out the back, saying he needed to use the bathroom.
When the officer placed a hand on his arm, police said the man punched the officer’s arm.
The officer responded by striking him in the face with a forearm, taking him to the floor of the rescue vehicle and placing him under arrest, according to the report. Police said firefighters witnessed the alleged punch.
Broadnax was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
