The Mayors’ Chess Challenge heads back to Coral Springs in January.
This free and friendly series of meet-ups, spearheaded by Sunrise Mayor Michael Ryan in cooperation with mayors from throughout Broward County, draws attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and in the community.
This year, the event will be hosted by the first time by Mayor Scott Brook on Saturday, January 18, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Mullins Hall.
Families and students of all ages are invited to join the mayor, along with other elected officials and community leaders, for a game of chess. This is a free, open play event, so registration is not necessary.
No prior experience needed, and Chess Challenge Passports will be stamped. Light refreshments will be available, and each player will receive a commemorative participation award.
