I go all over the place to eat and drink but when I come back in town, I usually say, let’s go to the Bear. I really don’t think the locals know how lucky we are to have this brewpub in our backyards.
Case in point: I got back from a business trip on the West coast of Florida, when I arrived back in Coral Springs, I tell my wife I want to go to the Bear for some drinks.
Big Bear Brewing Co. opened its doors in July of 1997. They are committed to using the highest quality ingredients at the peak of their season. Their soups, salad dressings, desserts, and sauces are homemade from scratch daily and they use locally sourced fresh seafood & produce.
For you beer snobs and hop heads, we all know this place brews awesome beer. We take a drive over, sit at the bar, and see the owner GW and his managing partner Greg Sherman working. Really nothing new because they are almost always here.
A good sign of any well-run restaurant.
Since my wife is making dinner, we order an appetizer of the Bavarian Pretzels which comes with a Mustard and cheese spread. I never had one before but I’ve had pretzels, mustard, and cheese before.
No biggie, right?
No wrong!
The appetizer comes out with three fresh-baked pretzels, with a side of a honey mustard type sauce and a cheese spread. I took a quick bite of the pretzel and it was warm, soft, and delicious.
Now here is the great part: I placed some of the cheese spread on the pretzel and BAM!
Holy crap this is fantastic!
This cheese spread is perfect. You can taste the beer used to make this spread and the flavors combine so well together. I’m telling you, you must, try this cheese spread.
One last thing, GW, I know you read these reviews and you should. With that said, thank you for being in our community. Glad to see you updated the restaurant with new fixtures, paintings, barstools, and your water feature. By you spending your money on upgrades and keeping your menu fresh makes me want to spend my money at your place. I love your staff, especially Kelly and Paula. They always make me feel like family and that adds extra charm to your place.
