Parkridge Christian Academy has officially announced the addition of a varsity football team set to begin play in the 2026–27 school year.
Head coach Cory Spencer, who has been with the school since 2021, called the moment a dream come true as the program continues to grow, as the school is currently competing in its first season across multiple sports at the varsity level.
“Adding a football program at Parkridge has been my biggest dream since starting in 2021,” Spencer said. “With the addition of high school grades last year, I’ve seen firsthand the impact a varsity football team can have on camaraderie and community within a school. It’s my hope to capture some of the same unity I experienced on Friday nights growing up in the Midwest.”
While this will be Spencer’s first time coaching tackle football, he brings extensive coaching experience in baseball, basketball, and flag football. He also emphasized that he has built a strong staff around him to help guide the program.
“I have surrounded myself with a group of individuals who know the game and are dedicated to molding young men for Christ’s glory,” Spencer said. “I’m excited to announce the full coaching staff at our upcoming meeting.”
The team has already begun assembling a schedule for its inaugural season, which will include both local and non-local opponents. Parkridge is set to open with a preseason game on August 14 against Ida Baker High School in Cape Coral and will close the regular season on October 30 against Marathon High School.
Looking ahead, Spencer hopes to build strong rivalries with nearby programs, including Coral Springs Charter, J.P. Taravella, and Coral Springs High School.
Parkridge will host an interest meeting on Thursday, March 26, where coaches will outline the team’s spring, summer, and fall plans and provide additional details on the full game schedule for the upcoming season.
