Parkridge Christian Academy is launching its Athletic League, a new recreational sports league designed for children in the community.
The league, which aims to combine sports and Christian values, will debut this fall with a basketball season for boys and girls in grades K-9.
The school’s athletic director, Cory Spencer, shared his excitement about the program.
“We want to create a positive, competitive environment for children in our community, whether they attend Parkridge Christian Academy or not,” Spencer said. “This is a chance for kids to grow athletically and spiritually.”
The inaugural basketball season will feature four divisions: K-2, grades 3-5, boys 6-9, and girls 6-9. However, the final groupings may shift depending on registration numbers.
The season is set to run for six weeks of regular games, followed by two weeks of playoffs. Games are scheduled for Saturday mornings in October and November. Practice sessions will be held one or two nights a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays.
The league is open to PCA students and the public. Registration is $200 per child, and there is a special incentive for parents willing to step up as coaches—the child of a volunteer coach can play for free.
Registration for the league closes on September 30, and families interested in signing up can do so at the school’s website, parkridgeca.com/pal.
