Playa Bowls Coral Springs is getting ready to open its doors.
The restaurant franchise, known for its colorful tropical fruit bowls and green smoothies, hopes the locals will appreciate a healthy alternative to fast food.
Held on Saturday, July 30, at 11 am, the Playa Bowls grand opening promises to be the community event of the month. The first 50 guests in line will get free bowls, and the first 100 customers will get free swag bags.
The 2,000-square feet Coral Springs store is Playa’s 154th location nationwide and the eighth in Florida.
Opening in partnership with local entrepreneurs Alex & Ricky Arguello, Darrell Casoria, and Joseph Coakley. A 2004 J.P. Taravella graduate, Arguello still lives a few blocks away from the school on Riverside and Pine Island.
“As a Coral Springs resident, it makes me proud to know I can bring Playa Bowls, our slice of summer, to my favorite city,” he said, adding that local kids will find a lot to love in the restaurant’s menu: “The bowls and smoothies are healthy but also very instagrammable.”

“We have our famous acai and pitaya bowls, oatmeal, fresh smoothies, and cold press juices. Playa Bowls is a plant-based, healthy, and quick alternative to what we have available in town,” said Arguello.
Playa Bowls was created by Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor, two surfers from Jersey Shore who traveled the world chasing after great waves.
They tried a local version of acai or pitaya bowl in each exotic location they visited and eventually decided to recreate the recipes in their hometown. What started in 2014 as a pop-up stand on a New Jersey sidewalk by the local pizza shop evolved into a national business with over 150 stores all over the country.
Coral Springs Playa Bowls is located at 3111 North University Drive.
