Coral Springs Police Chief Bradley McKeone said on Monday that he is resigning to become the city’s deputy city manager.
McKeone, a 25-year-member of the police force, will oversee operations of the city’s parks and recreation, community engagement, emergency preparedness, and police and fire departments, he wrote in a message posted on the city’s website.
“It’s an honor to continue serving this community in a broader capacity, building upon the foundations of safety, service, and connection that define Coral Springs,” McKeone wrote.
Longtime public servant and City Manager Frank Babinec retired from the job earlier his month. McKeone applied for Babinec’s position, which wound up going to new City Manager Catherine Givens.
It was not immediately clear Monday when McKeone would begin his new job.
McKeone was named the city’s seventh chief of police in March 2022.
He began his career with the department in 1999, was promoted to deputy chief of police in March 2018, and served as executive officer for the police department’s SWAT team.
The veteran law enforcement officer holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in criminal justice, according to the city.
