A woman was arrested last week and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend for refusing to eat her cooking.
A Coral Springs Police Department arrest report shows that officers responded to the scene near the 8500 block of Northwest 35th Street on February 26. Upon arrival, records show they discovered the suspect, Nativita Auguste, 43, of Coral Springs, attempting to hide in the bushes of a neighboring building.
According to the report, officers met with the victim, who informed them that an argument began between him and Auguste, his girlfriend, over his reluctance to eat her cooking.
The victim told CSPD the disagreement escalated when Auguste allegedly slapped him while he was sitting in the living room.
The altercation continued into the kitchen, where the victim said he confronted Auguste about the slap. At that moment, Auguste grabbed an eight-inch kitchen knife from the counter and slashed it at him. In an attempt to defend himself, the victim said he raised his arms and sustained a two-inch laceration to his left forearm.
According to records, at the moment the victim was stabbed, a witness called 911. Realizing that law enforcement had been contacted, Auguste fled the apartment and was later found hiding near her residence on Woodside Drive. Officers took her into custody without incident.
The victim was transported to Broward Health, where he received stitches before being released.
With the victim on his way to the hospital and a witness being interviewed, officers turned to processing the scene and recovered the kitchen knife as evidence. Blood was also found on the living room floor, consistent with the victim’s claims.
During an interview with police, Auguste reportedly admitted to being upset over the victim’s refusal to eat with her but denied using a knife, instead claiming she struck him with a napkin holder.
Auguste was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
