Woman Shot in Coral Springs; Person of Interest in Custody

A woman was shot in Coral Springs on Thursday afternoon and suffered serious injuries, according to police.
The Coral Springs Police Department said officers responded around 3 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 7600 block of West Sample Road.
When officers arrived, they found an adult female victim suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. She was rushed to Broward Health North for treatment. Her condition was not immediately available Thursday evening.
Police said a person of interest has been identified, detained, and was in custody.
The scene remained active Thursday night as detectives continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities said the nature of the relationship between the victim and the person in custody is not known at this time.
Police emphasized there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
